In God and You We Trust; Demands Union Territory

10 MLAs from Kuki community on 13 September 2025 submitted a joint memorandum to Narendra Modiji, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India with an appeal for early political settlement- a separate Union Territory with Legislature.

The memorandum reads “we, the undersigned MLAs, extend our heartiest welcome to you on your first ever visit to Lamka, Churachandpur. We look forward to a historic shift in our political future with your visit.

“You are fully aware of how our people have been totally cleansed from the valley areas of Manipur, shamed, assaulted, raped, and ravaged, physically as well as mentally. It is an unprecedented ethnic persecution, with state complicity, by the majority community on our minority community.

“We can now live in peace only as good neighbours, never under the same roof again.

“We therefore place the anguish and aspiration of our people before you and strongly urge you to expedite the dialogue to address our demand for a separate Union Territory with Legislature. This alone, we believe, will bring lasting peace and sense of security, justice and belonging to our people.”

“In God and You We Trust” stated the memorandum jointly signed by Vungzagin Valte (MLA/Thanlon AC-BJP), Chinlunthang Manlun (MLA/ Singngat AC-KPA), Paolienlal Haokip (MLA/ Saikot AC-BJP), Letpao Haokip (MLA/Tengnoupal AC-BJP), Haokholet Kipgen (MLA/Saitu AC-Ind), Ngursanglur Sanate (MLA/Tipaimukh AC-BJP), Letzamang Haokip (MLA/Henglep AC-BJP), Lallianmang Khaute (MLA Churachandpur AC-BJP), Kimneo Hangshing (MLA/Saikul AC-KPA) and Nemcha Kipgen (MLA/Kangpokpi AC-BJP.
