26 Tangkhul Players Selected To Present Manipur At Khelo India Tribal Games 2026

A total of 26 players from the Tangkhul community have been selected to represent Manipur at the 1st Edition of Khelo India Tribal Games 2026 which is slated to be held in Chhattisgarh on 14 February 2026.

As per the orders issued by Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur dated 9th January 2026, out of 22 selected players in the Football (Women’s) Team, 5 Tangkhuls players have been selected to represent Manipur. They are:

1. SW. Hormichon

2. Ringsochuiwon Shatsang

3. Raya Muivah

4. Janish Katfe

5. Lemyao Makung

And in the Football (Men’s) Team, 9 Tangkhul football players have been selected. They are:

1. Tara Gachui

2. Ninglumshang Yazingnao

3. Wungramchan PS

4. Maya Ningshen

5. Thotreimung Meiphok

6. Yami Longvah

7. Shangreiso Kashung

8. Puiringshang

9. Mahothing

10. Sohungpam Hungshi

11. Akui Awungshi

In the Wrestling (Men’s) Team, the lone two players selected to represent Manipur are:

1. Thingyaso Kasar (65 kg Free Style)

2. Shangleng Jagoi (67kg Greco Roman)

Again in the Athletics (Men’s) out of the 13 selected athletes, 8 are Tangkhul athletes. They are:

1. Ngachanso Ngalung

2. Horthingshang CS

3. Mataiso Longvah

4. Ringhorsem Muinao

5. Yangmaring Kasar

6. Thotngacheirin Hunphun Luiyi

7. Mashunngam Muinao

8. AS. Hungkhayai

The order further stated that the selected players will further participate in the National Level Selection Trial to be conducted by the respective National Sports Federation (NSF). It is also learnt that DYASO of Ukhrul, Phami Vasha will be leading the Manipur contingent in the tournamen
