In a moment of pride, 11 State Forest Service of Manipur Cadre has been Promoted To Indian Forest Service. The 11 officers, whose dedicated service and professional acumen have earned them this significant promotion.
The Government of India, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change on 16 March 2025 issued an order approving the Select Lists for promotion from State Forest Service of Manipur Cadre to the Indian Forest Service for the Select List Year 2023.
The order reads “in exercise of the provisions contained in Sub-Regulation 3 of Regulation 7 of the Indian Forest Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1966, Union Public Service Commission has approved the Select Lists for promotion from State Forest Service of Manipur Cadre to the Indian Forest Service for the Select List Year 2023 containing the names of the following officers of the Stale Forest Service of Manipur Cadre, towards filling up of promotion quota vacancies available in Manipur Cadre of the Indian Forest Service.”

The Indian Forest Service is one of the three All India Services and plays a crucial role in the management of forests, environment, and wildlife resources across the nation. The inclusion of more officers from the state service into this national cadre is seen as a major boost, not only for the officers personally but also for the institutional strength of forest administration in Manipur.
