WCKCSO Ukhrul's Indefinite Blockade A Direct Challenge To Tangkhul Naga's Absolute Rights

The Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has found the “indefinite total shutdown” announced by the Working Committee of Kuki CSO Ukhrul (WCKCSO) with effect from 12.00AM of the 5th August 2026 along the National Highway-202 as unacceptable and a direct challenge to the absolute rights of the Tangkhul Nagas.

Since the outbreak of conflict from the 7th of February 2026, the Kukis with the backing of their militants under the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact, narco-terrorists and illegal. migrants have laid siege on the National Highway-202 and curtailed the free movement along the Imphal-Ukhrul-Kamjong route. In the name of raising demands to the government, the WCKCSO Ukhrul has imposed the blanket blockade against the Tangkhul Nagas who are the real owners of the ancestral land. This act is plainly a brazen and insolent behaviour on the part of the migrant Kukis.

What a perplexing scenario! That, the Kuki Civil Society Organisations based in Ukhrul had placed their irrational demands to the State government and its subsequent failure to receive any positive response from their end, attempted to shift blame to the Tangkhul Nagas- the community inhumanly oppressed in the present conflict. The whole world knows that prevailing crisis has been engineered by the Kukis, and now, holding all and sundry responsible for their self inflicted sufferings.

The Kukis has no shame to talk about humanity. Whereas, they have been on a vicious rampage showing no respect to humanity and civility by committing violence against women-children, indulging in looting, abduction, killing and cannibalism. The statements “You choose selective humanity. We choose selective reciprocity. You block our food; we block yours” is the most hilarious phrases ever coined by the Kuki CSO Ukhrul and appropriately fit to be flagged as an entertaining cinematic dialogue.

In fact, the Kukis have made a mockery of the political dispensation in Imphal and the New Delhi. Why the illegal and self-styled Kuki group is acting like an absolute authority in all state of affairs? The Kuki CSOs has the audacity of doling out special permission for safe passage to the select government agencies. Is the State of Manipur now being run by the migrant Kukis in cohorts with their militants and narco-terrorists? The Khemchand-led Ministry must respond to this pertinent query.
