Ukhrul: Phase 2 Poppy Destruction Concludes

The Phase 2 of poppy destruction drive at Ukhrul District, Manipur that begins on 16 December 2025 concluded today. A total of 559 acres of poppy cultivation was destroyed in Phase 2 poppy destruction drive.

Destruction of illegal poppy cultivation was carried out at LM Block,Yaolen- Lamlai Chingphei Area and Mullam and Shongphel Area under Ukhrul District of Manipur by the combined team of Police, Forest Department, BSF, Assam Rifles and NAB.

​As part of the phase 2 poppy destruction drive, the following teams conducted operations at two different locations on Saturday

At ​LM Block: A total of 57 acres were destroyed and 7 huts used by poppy cultivators were burnt by a combined team comprising District Police, 6MR, the Forest Department, and 18 Assam Rifles, under the command of SDPO Ukhrul.

At Mullam & Shongphel Area: A total of 45 acres were destroyed and 10 huts used by poppy cultivators were burnt by a combined team comprising District Police, BSF, the Forest Department, 4 Mahar Regiment, NCB and NAB, under the command of SDPO Jessami.

​FIR cases will be registered accordingly for both locations. The two teams have concluded the Phase-2 poppy destruction drive today.
