The Yonex Sunrise WBF World Junior Championship 2025, held in Guwahati, Assam, India from 6 to 19 October 2025 marked a historic sporting milestone hosting the international championships for the second time after the 2008 edition, drawing massive participation and significant recognition from across the globe. The event showcased not only the exceptional talents of next generation athletes but also the vital role of technical officials who ensured the championship’s smooth and fair conduct.
Notably, four representatives from Manipur were among the distinguished technical officials appointed for the championship. They are;
Mr. A Laiba Meitei – Imphal East District
Mr. Tomrex Hodam – Imphal West District
Mr. Kurrwar Roel – Chandel District and
Miss Worleichan A Shimray – Ukhrul District
Remarkably, Miss Worleichan A Shimray, National Umpire, Badminton Association of India (BAI) is the first lady from the state of Manipur to participate in the prestigious international championship organized by the Badminton World Federation as one of the Technical Officials.
Adding to the pride, Mr. Shym Kumar from Manipur served as the Team Manager of the Indian contingent, guiding and coordinating the national team throughout the championship. His leadership and experience contributed significantly to India’s strong and disciplined presence at the global stage.
