UDYAM registration drive for Lungchong Meiphai Block, Ukhrul District, Manipur was officially launched on 26 September 2025 at Centenary Complex Hall, Teinem Village.
SDO of Lungchong Meiphai, Ngamreiwung Luithui (MCS) officially launched the UDYAM Registration Drive in respect of LM Block on 26th September, 2025 at Centenary Complex Hall, Teinem Village. He encourages the participants to do Udyam registration; he also stated the importance of MSME’s for speedy socio-Economic upliftment of the LM Block. “The faster we enable MSMEs to become industrial units—through access to infrastructure, credit, subsidies, training, and markets—the sooner we will see multiplier effects: more employment, better incomes, reduced migration, and more resilient local economies” stated Ngamreiwung Luithui
He further continued “when MSMEs in LM Block produce locally, using local raw materials and skills, they preserve our culture, generate value in situ, and reduce dependence on imports or distant producers. Local goods also usually have better awareness among consumers here and can meet local needs more effectively.
By encouraging local industry, we strengthen supply chains, we support backward and forward linkages. This helps reduce costs, increase competitiveness, and ensures that gains remain in our block. If we act with urgency and commitment, LM Block can become a model of rural industrial growth — where people find jobs near home, local entrepreneurship flourishes, incomes rise, and our block becomes self-reliant in many goods.”
Resource person Dr. Riamei Jangmei, SDC/BO, Ukhrul/ LM highlighted the importance of Speedy industrialization in respect of LM Block through the activities of MSME’s. he stated that local products be encouraged through MSME’s When MSMEs are established quickly, they generate local employment without delay. Instead of waiting for large industries, small and micro units can start operations; this means people of LM Block can get meaningful livelihood opportunities close to home.
Encouraging industrialization via MSMEs helps build supply chains within LM Block — raw materials, ancillary units, services, transport. That means more money circulating locally, more skills developed locally, and value added locally rather than being shipped out.
Inclusive Growth-MSMEs are more accessible — to women, youth, local artisans. They allow more people to participate in economic growth. Speeding up MSME industrialisation in LM Block will open doors for many more, helping reduce inequality and regional disparity.
Resource person District coordinator- Livelihood & Block, i/c, Jessami Block, MSRLM, Ukhrul District, Dr. Khamrang Mathukmi informed the participants about facilities & services available MSRLM. He also explained about how MSMEs be availed the Benefits of Schemes and Loan in the form of Seed-Capital through MSLRM Formation & Support of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Federations and Community Based Organisations (CBOs) in villages, especially among women and marginalised sections, to promote livelihoods.
Resource Person Rita A Shimrah, Convener, Soron Collective Group, Ukhrul & Kamjong Spoke about Women Empowerment under MSMEs, which provide a pathway for women to move from being home-bound or informal sector workers, into recognized businesspersons, innovators, and employers. Many women are engaged in craft, food processing, textiles, agro-business etc. MSMEs give them a platform to create, brand, and sell local products. When women are business owners, their visibility in the community increases. They participate more, their voices carry more weight in decision-making, both at household and community levels.
Themreiyo T Awungshi, General Manager, DIC-Ukhrul & Kamjong, Explained the participants the importance of UDYAM Registration. He also encourages the people of LM Block to take up various MSME activities. Udyam Registration is a mandatory, online, self-declaration-based process, instituted by the Government of India through the Ministry of MSME since 1st July 2020, replacing earlier registrations such as Udyog Aadhaar Memorandum (UAM) and EM-II. The registration is free of cost, paperless, and requires no physical document uploads at the outset — only Aadhaar and PAN / GST details, with relevant investment and turnover information drawn from government databases. Once an enterprise completes registration, it receives a unique, permanent registration number and a digital / e-certificate. There is no requirement for renewal of this registration. Enterprises that were previously registered under UAM or EM-II must re-register or have already re-registered under Udyam to continue to avail benefits under MSME schemes. We must also caution that only the official Udyam portal and authorized government facilitation centres are valid for this registration. This registration enables our MSMEs to access government benefits, easier credit, participation in schemes, priority for procurement, reduced compliance burdens, and improves formal recognition in the system.”
