In the wake of the failure to release the arrested four (4) innocent civilians of Sharkaphung village under Litan Police Station by a combined team of Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, Punjab Regiment, Madras Regiment and Bihar Regiment on the 14th of July 2026, the Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) hereby declared blanket ban on security operation in any Tangkhul Naga villages with immediate effect from the 18th of July 2026.
The four Tangkhul Naga villagers identified as (1) Mr. Wungphayo Kasar (24) s/o Yurthan Kasar, (2) Mr. A.S. Ninglum (29) s/o AS Hopeson, (3) Mr. Yaoreingam Lungleng (24) s/o Makanmi Lungleng, and (4) Mr. Vareiyo Lungleng (56) s/o Tuifa Lungleng, were illegally arrested and falsely charged under Section 173 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and wrongly implicated them as the cadres of NSCN (IM). The innocent villagers are currently lodged in judicial custody.
The illegal search combing operation carried out by the joint team of security forces had grossly violated human rights, fundamental rights and democratic principles of the citizens. The security forces had brazenly vandalised school properties and desecrated the sanctity of religious institution. It calls for serious review and necessary action as per the law of the land.
It is pertinent to raise question on the conduct of the security forces during this conflict time-when the Naga villagers are under immense pressure, uncertainty and emotional turmoil in the face of the aggressive Kuki’s stance. When the alleged armed ambush occurred at about 55 Km away near Lungshang River under Hungpung village, the combing operation was conducted in Litan areas and subsequently detained innocent civilians as culprits is way beyond any logic. The security forces acted solely based on inaccurate intelligence inputs from the Kukis against the Tangkhul Nagas. Hence, the law enforcing agencies under the State and Central government are advised to be aware of such manipulative policies plotted by their collaborators the Kuki narco-terrorists.
As the 24-hour deadline for unconditional release of the illegally arrested persons ended on the 15th of July 2026, the Working Committee of TNL is compelled to declare the above stated. imposition and called upon all the Tangkhul Naga villages remain vigilant for any untoward circumstances.
