The Working Committee of TNL in a press release stated that “suspected Kuki militants have set ablaze Patleijang, a hamlet of Yaolen near Litan Police Station of Ukhrul District and Khoikai village under Chassad Police Station of Kamjong District in the early hours of 20th and 21” October of 2026 respectively.
“As per the sources from the neighbouring Tangkhul Naga villages from both the Kuki villages, a trail of smoke was seen emanating from the precincts of Patleijang and the abandoned Khoikai village in the early hours of Tuesday and Wednesday. In fact, on the 6th April 2026, the Tangkhul Naga civil society organisations have accorded safe passage to the remaining 40 inhabitants of Khoikai Kuki village.
“The incidence of Patleijang and Khoikai is seen as yet another strategy of the Kukis to stage a blame game, and to set up a pretext for another offensive against the Tangkhul Nagas. A similar tactical move was applied when Lanchah and Phaimol was set ablaze by the Kuki themselves sometime in the month of April (while report came in only on the 2nd of May 2026) and on the 1” of July 2026 respectively.
“On the 7th of May 2026, the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and the Village Volunteers of Eastern Zone (VVEZ) launched an aggressive attack on Z. Choro, Wanglee and Namlee the Tangkhul Naga villages situated along the Indo-Myanmar border, after Lanchah was intentionally set afire. Similarly, the Tangkhul Naga settlements namely Huimin Thana and Khrongram- a hamlet of Nampisha village, came under heavy attack from the Kuki militants after the Phaimol’s incidence. The Kukis have been mastering the art of lies and blame game since the outbreak of violent conflict on the 7th of February 2026 in the hills of Manipur.
“In this wake, the Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) while condemning the uncivilized act on the part of the Kukis sounds an alert to the Tangkhul Naga community to stay vigilant as our adversaries may resort to another offensive anytime on the vulnerable areas following the orchestrated arson in the two Kuki villages” added the press statement issued by the Media Cell, Working Committee, TNL.
