The Central Working Committee of Tangkhul Naga Foothills’ Organisation (CWC-TNFO) has strongly refuted the statement of Kuki CSOs Working Committee Ukhrul.
The statement issued by Media & Publicity of CWC-TNFO stated that “with reference to Kuki CSO Ukhrul (Ref. No. WC/22/26) dated 10/04/26, it is both surprising and questionable that a civil society organization would be so quick to issue a statement on behalf of a central force like the BSF, while placing the entire blame on Tangkhul Naga Groups.
“If a BSF personnel was indeed injured and succumbed to death, it is the responsibility of the BSF to officially clarify the incident with verified facts and transparency. The premature statement issued by Kuki CSO prior to any formal communication from the BSF raises serious concerns regarding intent, credibility, and the source of their information. Such actions appear opportunistic and risk creating a misleading narrative. They also raise doubts among the public as to whether certain groups are attempting to influence or pre-empt official findings for their own advantage.
“Central forces whether military or paramilitary who are mandated to function impartially, maintaining neutrality while serving the broader interest of peace and security for all communities. Any attempt to portray them as aligned with one side undermines public trust and weakens institutional credibility.
“As per our information, the injured BSF personnel was not attacked by Tangkhul groups, but by Kuki militant elements (a wolf in sheep’s clothing) designed specifically to disturb the peace meeting of our people. According to ground reports, the late Jawan Shri Mithun Mandal was positioned near Mongkot Chepu, close to the Blacksmith shop, facing towards Sharkaphung (EAST), when he was shot from behind. This strongly indicates that the shot was fired from the western side (KUKI MILITANTS BUNKER). The circumstances suggest the need for a thorough and impartial investigation to determine responsibility and clarify conflicting narratives. This raises serious concerns about a possible attempt to project a victim narrative by targeting central forces that are working tirelessly on the frontlines to preserve peace and stability.
“Furthermore, the claim regarding the red-roofed “Pharmila house” being used by village volunteers is incorrect. That location is occupied by state forces (MR), who would not engage in unprovoked firing against civilians or central forces. Similarly, the assertion regarding a bunker at Kholkai hilltop is baseless, as no such structure exists there.
“It is strongly condemnable that central security forces, who tirelessly uphold law and order, are being dragged into such narratives. We unequivocally condemn the reported attack around 4:46PM that resulted in the death of BSF personnel. Such acts severely undermine peace efforts and instil fear among innocent civilians in Litan and Sharkaphung. We demand a thorough investigation and swift delivery of justice” stated the statement issued by the Media/Information & Publicity, CWC, TNFO
