The “non-cooperation” was imposed and enforced by the Tangkhul CSOs on 31 March 2026, following the tragic incident of Hongbei on 28 March 2026.

The non-cooperation movement was imposed to seek accountability and justice over the unfortunate incident. “As a Christian community, the Tangkhul people should be guided by the principles of forgiveness, reconciliation and faith. The final judgement has been placed in the hands of Almighty God” stated the statement signed by Sword Vashum, President, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL); Kashung Tennyson, President, Tangkhul Naga Awunga Long (TNAL); Thingreiphi Lungharwoshi, President, Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL); Ramreichan Keishing, President, Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS); and Ringphapam Kasar, President In-charge, Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL).

The non-cooperation imposed against the Wung Tangkhul Region, which had remained in force since March 31, 2026, stands revoked with immediate effect from July 10, 2026.
