The Rongmei Naga Students’ Organization Manipur (RNSOM) and All Inpui Students’ Union (AISU) has strongly condemned the cowardly act of threats targeted to Dr. Linda Marangmei on 30 December 2025.

The press release signed by Daichui Gangmei, President of RNSOM stated that “the Rongmei Naga Students’ Organization Manipur (RNSOM) strongly condemns the

cowardly act of threats by unknown culprits targeting Dr Linda Marangmei, a resident of

Ragailong, Imphal East. On December 30, 2025, a sealed package containing three live rounds of ammunition and a threat letter was found at her residence, causing fear and apprehension for her safety and that of her family.

“This deliberate act of intimidation and criminal threat poses a grave risk to public peace and demands immediate investigation and action. RNSOM urges the authorities to swiftly identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. We stand in solidarity with Dr. Linda Marangmei and her family and demand a thorough investigation into this cowardly act.

“The Organization appeals to the Hon’ble Governor Manipur to look into this matter and act upon it without further delay. Should any untoward incident occur to the medical officer or her family, it will be considered administrative failure and regarded as an open invitation for a serious wave of mass agitation and appropriate action.”

“The people of Manipur deserve to live without fear of terror and intimidation” added the press release.

The All Inpui Students’ Union (AISU) has also condemned the incident. The press release signed by Chunhungba Khumba, General Secy, of AISU stated that, “the All Inpui Students’ Union (AISU) unequivocally condemns the life-threatening acts by unknown individuals directed at Dr. Linda Marangmei wife of Dr. James Bariam a resident of Ragailong, Imphal East on 30th December 2025. A threat letter and a seal package containing three live rounds of ammunition was found at her residence. It is a threat to life, dignity, a grave violation of human rights and an attack on the values of justice, peace, and humanity.

“Dr. Linda Marangmei’s safety and well-being are of utmost importance. Acts of intimidation and violence-especially against individuals serving society – cannot and will not be tolerated. Such actions spread fear, undermine social harmony, and erode the rule of law.

“AISU urge the concerned authorities to take immediate and decisive action to ensure her protection, identify the perpetrators, and bring them to justice through a fair and transparent process. We also call upon the community to stand united against violence and to uphold respect, compassion, and lawful conduct.

“Our solidarity stands firmly with Dr. Linda Marangmei and her family. Justice must prevail, and peace must be safeguarded.”
