We, the KHANUITHOT-KHON, representing the voice of right-thinking Tangkhul Naga citizens, formally issue this statement to categorically reject the current attempts by certain leaders and MLAs to broker “Temporary Peace” agreements that compromise the long-term security and integrity of our homeland.
The statement issued by the Media Cell, Khanuithot-Khon stated “while the clouds of violence still hang over Litan Area, Sinakeithei Area and Kamjong Area, and while the trauma of the 21 abducted civilians remains unaddressed, any attempt to prioritize festive optics over structural justice is not diplomacy—it is a Betrayal.
OUR UNWAVERING POSITION:
No Sovereignty for Festivals:
We condemn the Manipur Government’s attempt to sideline the burning crisis by organizing state-level festivals. To celebrate while our people live under the shadow of illegal bunkers and highway blockades is an insult to the suffering of the grassroots population.
Rejection of “Short-Term” Brokering:
We see through the selfish gains of leaders attempting to patch together temporary agreements for the sake of political convenience. A peace that only lasts until the end of a festival is no peace at all.
The SoO Mandate:
We reiterate that there can be no lasting solution without addressing the blatant violations of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact. The militarization of civilian areas and the targeting of Tangkhul Naga civilians must be met with legal accountability, not administrative handshakes.
Security Over Subterfuge:
The Naga people will not surrender their ancestral land or their right to safety for the sake of a “piecemeal” solution that ignores the root causes of the current aggression.
Immediate Withdrawal:
Rescind the referral of the March 12 case to the NIA and return the investigation to the jurisdiction of the State Police.
“We call upon all Naga citizens to remain vigilant against those who seek to trade our future for short-lived political stability. We will not be silenced by festivities, nor will we be moved by hollow agreements. The spirit of the Naga people cannot be bought with temporary reprieves” added the statement of Media Cell, Khanuithot-Khon
