A team of media on Wednesday visited Kuki Baptist Church at Litan Sareikhong, Ukhrul District, Manipur to ascertain the facts.
A viral post was being circulated in social media by multiple persons, alleging that the NSCN-IM had constructed bunkers at the Litan Sareikhong Kuki Baptist Church. They even accused the Central Forces of collaborating with the NSCN-IM and sharing the same bunkers.
Did the NSCN-IM dismantle the bunkers and abandon the church? Because when the media team visited the site on Wednesday, the church compound was found to be manned by CRPF personnel and not by NSCN-IM as alleged by the bloggers, content creators or influencers.
The Church compound is being properly manned by the Central Forces. The Church is locked and is safe and stands secured.
With the unrest in Litan Sareikhong because of the conflict between Tangkhul Naga and Kuki, recently we have witnessed unverified information and misleading posts being circulated in social media.
We have become a victim of fake news spread by multiple persons. Such misinformation will only polarize and aggravate the situation.
