The Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) on Thursday served a banishment order to 3 individuals from the Kuki community of Maova village. They are Sutminal Vaiphei, Chairman of Maova Village Council, Seiboi Changsan, Head GB and Paoboi Changsan, Ex-Chairman of Maova Village. They are directed to leave Chakhroma jurisdiction within thirty (30) days from the date of issuance of the order.

“The office of the Chakhroma Youth Organisation (CYO) is compelled to issue this order in light of the incident which occurred at Maova Village on February 13th 2026, whereby Maova Villagers had physically assaulted Chakhroma Public Organisation (CPO) President and his colleagues and grievously injured its volunteers. Thereby, to resolve the issue, CYO had issued an ultimatum to produce the persons responsible for the premeditated attack and to come to terms for a peaceful solution among Maova Village and CPO” stated the order issued by the Information & Publicity Wing of Chakhroma Youth Organisation on 19 March 2026.

“Be it mentioned herein that on the request of Maova Village, CPO had provided ample opportunities to Maova Village leaders on numerous occasions to settle the issue amicably. However, till date Maova village leaders had failed to come to terms with CPO for a peaceful solution.

“Thereby, as per Angami Customary Law and Tradition, and in line with Point No. 04 of the Chakhroma standing resolution adopted on April 15, 1945 at Tsiepama Village, which states that “Any person who inflicts any physical assault to any of the member of Chakhroma shall not be allowed to live in Chakhroma area.” Furthermore, as per the declaration signed on 31 July, 1995 at Medziphema Town, wherein it is clearly stated in clause 6 “That in the event of failure to abide by the 1995 declaration by any Kuki individual, group or villages, the violators shall be expelled from the area in the interest of peace and tranquility and to avoid any misunderstanding.”

“Therefore, taking into account the actions of Maova village Chairman, GB and Ex-Chairman who were responsible for instigating their youths for the premeditated attack on the CPO leaders and CYO volunteers and subsequently failing to come to an amicable solution. The office of the CYO hereby serves this banishment order to Sutminal Vaiphei, Chairman, Maova Village Council, Seiboi Changsan, Head GB and Paoboi Changsan Ex-Chairman, from Maova Village in particular and Chakhroma Jurisdiction in general with immediate effect. Furthermore, the said people are directed to leave Chakhroma jurisdiction within thirty (30) days from the date of this order” stated the order of CYO.

“In the event of failure to comply and leave Chakhroma Area within the stipulated period, they shall be held solely responsible for their own safety and welfare if any untoward incident befall upon them” stated the order issued by the Information & Publicity Wing, Chakhroma Youth Organisation.
