Mathematics and Science coaching for HSLC Exam is expensive and unaffordable for many students from poor families. Crash course for Mathematics is charged at Rs 4000 – Rs.5000 whereas Physics and Chemistry Rs.2000 each. It is a huge financial burden for the poor parents.
Many students from remote villages of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, due to lack of qualified and experienced teachers usually come to Ukhrul headquarters by early part of January to join Crash Courses for Mathematics and Science to prepare for HSLC Examination every year.
To help and encourage the students and ease the financial burden of the parents, Khashim Vashum, MLA of 45-Chingai Assembly Constituency had made a special arrangement by organising free Crash Course Coaching for HSLC Examination -2026 candidates at Ukhrul Headquarters.
Engaging Thotmathing Raskan and S Chinaongam for Mathematics, Seth Kasomwoshi and Betterson Kuireiwoshi for Chemistry and Physics respectively. All the teachers having experience of more than 15 years of teaching in their respective subjects. 76 students from various schools of Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts are attending the classes in two separate batches of 38 students each.
A student by the name Raju Hijam s/o Suraj Hijam from Andro, Imphal East currently studying in Alice Christian Higher Secondary School, Ukhrul is the only student not from the two districts. Onso Jajo s/o Yarmi Jajo of Kangpat Khunou village a student of Kamjong Higher Secondary School expressing his satisfaction said “teachings of the teachers are quite different from the teachings we recieved in School. They are teaching us with much clarity explaining the concepts of each and every topic very well making use of simple day to day analogy/examples”.
Somasan Lungran Shangh d/o Wungpam Lungrawo Shangh of Marem village, a student of Savio High School say that her confidence to face HSLC Examination-2026 is high as the teachers are teaching the students according to the latest question patterns of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and past questions are discussed and taught.
The students expressed gratitude to the teachers and MLA Khashim Vashum for sponsoring the coaching. The parents also expressed their gratitude to the MLA of Chingai for rescuing them from the financial burden and also giving the opportunity to their sons and daughters to avail the teachings of qualified and experienced teachers. Mr.Visoni Rayamah f/o Rinngam Rayamah of Worshon English School, Chingjaroi C V say “This is the 1st time I am learning that an MLA is taking trouble to organise free coaching for the upcoming generation, HSLC Exam candidates. This shows that Hon’ble MLA has genuine love and concern for the future of his people.”
It may be mentioned that Chingai MLA has shown great concern in the education sector, improving the infrastructures of the government schools and encouraging medical and engineering students by extending financial assistance.
