A moment of unity, pride, and collective strength unfolded at the Kamjong Headquarters as an overwhelming crowd from across the Wung Tangkhul Region and Naga areas gathered to felicitate Lieutenant General Honreishang Shadang (MSM, MC, AEM), the newly appointed Longvibu (Commander-in-Chief) of the Naga Army, NSCN/GPRN.
Lieutenant General Honreishang Shadang in his speech stated, “I am not the first nor will it be the last. Many have led the Naga Army with honour. I have been following the footsteps of my past leaders and will continue to do so. It is an honour to carry the baton of Naga Army and with full dedication, I will serve the Naga Army for the greater cause of Naga nation. Unity among us, support among us and guidance among us are the only way where we can move forward. I beseech your unceasing support and unflinching prayer.”
Responding with deep emotion and humility, Longvibu Honreishang Shadang expressed profound gratitude to God, acknowledging divine grace for enabling him to rise to the highest leadership position after serving the Naga nation for 39 years and 7 months. He thanked the Naga leaders for their wisdom and principles, which, he said, had strengthened his conviction and renewed his courage to serve with honesty and purpose. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the public for their enduring support and faith in his leadership.
Samson Jajo recalled that Captain Phungtha from Raphei area was the first Tangkhul to lead the Naga Army. There have been other Tangkhuls who have led the Naga Army. And today it is a joyous moment to see a dedicated soldier from the Kamo area leading the Naga Army. “We wish Lieutenant General Honreishang Shadang best wishes in his future endeavours.” As a traditional symbol of honour and manhood – spear, dao and haora (shawl) was presented by Captain (Retd.) Samson Jajo, CAO WTR and Convenor of Kamo Region.
In a powerful show of public unity, the entire gathering rose to their feet, lifting their hands in a collective pledge of cooperation and support to the leaders of NSCN/GPRN, reaffirming their commitment and unwavering support to the Naga cause.
Reverends, priests, and pastors from across the region led a mass blessing prayer. Placing their hands upon the Longvibu and his wife, they invoked divine guidance, protection, and prosperity, while the entire congregation joined in united prayer.
The felicitation programme was participated from a wide range of apex organisations and community bodies, including Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS), Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL), Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL), United Naga Council (UNC), Naga Women’s Union (NWU), ANSAM, and representatives of all NSCN civil and army setups. Groups such as the Eastern Kuki Chiefs Association, Pangal Organisation, Kamo Leishi Society, Kamo Kharar Long, Zingsho Katamnao Long, Tangkhul Aze Katamnao Long and many others also joined, turning the ceremony into a vibrant symbol of inter-community harmony.
