The District Administration of Ukhrul on Monday officially launched the “Jaan Bhagidari Week” at DRDA Hall, Mini Secretariat Complex.
Jaan Bhagidari -Sabse Door, Sabse Pehle is an initiative of the Government of India to promote broad-based civic participation in local governance. Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Asish Das (IAS) officially launched the campaign today at Ukhrul Headquarters.
The nationwide information, education, and communication (IEC) campaign will kickstart today, with an aim to ensure that welfare schemes reach tribal villages. The campaign, which will continue until the 25th of this month and will be conducted in more than 52 villages under Ukhrul District. There are -14 villages under LM Block, 21 villages under Ukhrul Block, 8 villages under Jessami Block and 9 villages under Chingai Block.
During the launching of the IEC campaign, Asish Das (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul stated that “every participating village can propose for 3 Crore and if it is justifiable we can propose for more. Take this opportunity, take the maximum benefit of this project. It will be of great help in developing your village.”
This takes us back to 27 November 2025, where Asish Das (IAS), had flagged off “Unlocking Ukhrul Model” -a movement where the people of Ukhrul have to actively participate in initiating their own model of development. Identify the needs, based on that, create a roadmap- an action plan.
A brainchild of Asish Das, the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, “Unlocking Ukhrul Model’’ is a development initiative programme, an aspiration with how dreams can come into reality, believing in the power of the people, in their capacity.
District Nodal Officer, Dr. Riamei Jangmei stated that “the core goal of Jan Bhagidari (people’s participation) is to transform governance from a top-down approach into a collective, community-driven mission, ensuring that citizens are active partners in national development, policy-making, and public service delivery. It promotes transparency, accountability, and the “last-mile” delivery of services.”
Yurreikan Hungyo, SDC Ukhrul in his vote of thanks expressed gratitude to Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul for his initiatives of community-driven mission and formulating a very customised development plan for the district. The programme was participated by DLOs and various staffs and officers.
