For the first time, District Hospital Ukhrul conducted a general surgery today. With the upgradation of the already operational obstetrics and gynaecological surgeries which the hospital has started a year ago, now the OT is well-furnished and well-equipped.
The Medical Superintendent, Dr. Reisangmi Raikhan informed Rural Post that today, “our OT team has successfully conducted one bilateral hydrocelectomy operation. General surgeries such as cholecystectomy, herniotomy, hernioplasty, appendectomy, haemorrhoidectomy, etc will be taken up in the coming days as a routine surgery. Today’s operation was carried out by a team comprising Dr Ngasung Mahong (Surgeon), Dr Shinning (PG surgery), Dr Md. Nusharat and Dr Thotnim Hungyo (Anaesthetist), Staff Nurse Shimray Wungreichon and Moni Soro, OT technicians and other supporting staff of the hospital.”
Adding to the good news, he further said that “in the coming days, all surgeries will be conducted free of cost with zero out-of-pocket expenditure for patient who are a beneficiary of health schemes such as PMJAY and CMHT and possessing such valid health card.”
