District Administration Organises 6-A-Side (Girls) School Football Tournament

The 6-A-Side (Girls) School Football Tournament 2026 kickstarted on Thursday at Chara Futsal at Ukhrul Headquarters.

The tournament is organised by the District Administration in collaboration with the Zonal Education Office, District Programme Officer (ICDS Ukhrul), One Stop Centre- Ukhrul, Mere Yuva Bharat-Ukhrul, and District Youth Affairs and Sports Office- Ukhrul as a series of events under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme and ASMITA League/Khelo India Women’s League.

The tournament was kick-off by Phami Vasha, DYASO Ukhrul in the presence of W. Shimreipam – DPO ICDS Ukhrul, Worchipem AC-District Youth Officer -Mere Yuva Bharat Ukhrul, Chonchuirinmayo Luithui – Central Administrator, One Stop Centre -Ukhrul and staffs of various departments.

Phami Vasha calls for discipline, determination and dedication to the young participants. He stated, “winning is important, but taking part in the tournament is more important than anything.” He wished the best of luck to all the participants.

In the first match played today, OTC Junior Academy defeated Model High School by a score margin of 2-0. In the second match, Little Angels’ English School defeated Simple Solution School in a penalty shootout by 1-0. In the third match, KTL Excel Higher Secondary School defeated Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School by a score margin of 1-0. In the fourth match, Oriental Naga Academy defeated Ukhrul Higher Secondary School by a score margin of 3-0.

On Friday, the first semi-final match will be played between KTL Excel Higher Secondary School and Little Angels’ English School at 10:00 AM. In the second semi-final match, Oriental Naga Academy will meet OTC Junior Academy at 11:00 AM. The final match will be played on the same day at 02:00 PM at Chara Futsal.

As part of the International Women’s Day celebration, the organisor is also conducting essay and painting competitions at DRDA Hall and athletic events at Bakshi Ground on 7 March 2026. The celebration will culminate on 8 March 2026 at DRDA Hall.
