To ease the traffic congestion at Ukhrul Town and in the greater interest of the general public, the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Asish Das (IAS) on Monday issued a notice that spaces within Mini Secretariat Complex will be open for public vehicle parking from 6am to 6pm till 24 December 2025.

Road safety is a major concern especially during the festive season. With the onset of the Christmas holiday, one can witness thousands of people from all corners thronging Ukhrul Town.

“In view of the heavy traffic congestion due to the Christmas season in the Ukhrul district headquarter, the compound of Mini-Secretariat Ukhrul is hereby opened for public vehicle parking with immediate effect till 24th December, 2025 from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm (everyday) so as to ease the traffic congestion within the town in the interest of the general public” stated the notification issued by Asish Das (IAS), Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul.

Roadside eateries and mushrooming of street vendors (mostly, second hand clothes) have only added woes to the already existing problems along the narrow road of Ukhrul Town. It is also learnt that the District Adminstration has opened the space within Town Hall for street vendors during the festive season.
