Naga Village Guard -Eastern Command in a press statement informed that 3 Tangkhul Naga civilians sustained gunshot injuries at today’s incident at Chassad, Kamjong District, Manipur.

The injured persons have been identified as T. Chithung of Ningchou village, S. Malung of Bungpa Khullen village and M. Shithung of Bungpa Khullen village. The injured civilians have been admitted at Kamjong Hospital.

The press statement issued by the Media Cell Eastern Command, NVG stated that “the combined force of the Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) and the Village Volunteer of Eastern Zone (VVEZ) based in Chassad Kuki village launched an aggressive attack on the Tangkhul Naga civilians in Kamjong District headquarters on the 17th of October 2026, which results in injuring three (3) civil defence volunteers.

“At about 2.30PM on Saturday, the Kuki militants in collusion with their narco-terrorists resorted to unprovoked heavy firing towards the settlement areas of Kamjong headquarters causing deep fear and panic among the civil Tangkhul populace. Enraged by the sudden and unprovoked offensive, the Naga civil defence guards retaliated and pushed back the advancing Kuki militants armed with sophisticated weapons.

“To the utter shock of the Kamjong residents, the 11 Assam Rifles (ARs) personnel stationed in Chassad aided the Kuki militants and assisted in the onslaught against the Naga civilians. The ARs advanced with two (2) Casspir vehicles while resorting to heavy firing and launching several stun bombs towards the civilian areas in Kamjong headquarters. The stun bombs land on the civilian houses and damaging several properties in the surrounding of Kamjong town.

“The Chassad’s incident on Saturday clearly reaffirmed the Indian para-military forces secret nexus with the Kuki terror groups. As it has been stated time and again the Government of India is engaging the Kukis to wage a proxy war against the Nagas in an explicit attempt to derail the hard earned ongoing Indo-Naga peace process since 1997.

“The injured persons have been identified as T. Chithung of Ningchou, S. Malung of Bungpa Khullen and M. Shithung of Bungpa Khullen. All of them sustain a gunshot injury and have been immediately stabilised at Kamjong Hospital.

“In view of the serious developing situation in Kamjong today, the Naga Village Guard-Eastern Command issues a clarion call to all the Nagas to remain vigilant against the scheming policy of the Indian Government and the Kuki militants based in the State of Manipur and Myanmar. While we vehemently condemn the unprovoked attacks on Tangkhul Naga civilians, the Kukis are herewith warned of serious repercussions in case the incident as such is repeated in future. The Naga youths must stay alert and be ready to face our adversaries anytime and anywhere. We will never compromise in our resolute quest to protect our Land, Identity and People” added the statement issued by the Media Cell Eastern Command, NVG.
