The 5th Council Assembly of United Naga Council (2022-2026) held on Thursday at Ukhrul Headquarters has lifted the social boycott imposed on MP Alfred Kanngam S. Arthur, “considering the fluidity and extraordinary socio-political scenario in the state of Manipur and in the larger interest of Naga unity.”

On 29th May 2024, three individuals were debarred from public platform and from holding any position or leadership for a period of 7 years for “defiling the consensus opinion of the Nagas and failing to respect and honour the position of UNC in the 18th Lok Sabha Election for Members of Parliament, 2024.”

The President of Tangkhul Naga Long, Ino. Sword Vashum on 22 January 2026 had submitted a letter praying for the revocation of social boycott upon Ino. Alfred Kanngam S. Arthur, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha.

Thereafter, the Presidential Council Meeting of the United Naga Council held on 14 July 2026 had adopted a resolution to revoke the social boycott imposed on MP Alfred Kanngam S. Arthur. As a mandatory requirement, the approval for lifting the social boycott was placed before the 5th Council Assembly for its consideration and approval. Within a minute of tabling the agenda, the members present unanimously raised their hands and approved the agenda.
