The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim, Ministry of Information and Publicity on Friday condoles and mourns with profound sorrow over the passing of Lt. Adinno Phizo, President of the Naga National Council.
The National Socialist Council of Nagalim and the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim join the Naga people in grieving the loss of Lt. Adinno Phizo-the eldest daughter of our revered A. Z. Phizo.
For more than three decades following the passing of A. Z. Phizo in London in 1990, Lt. Adinno carried forward his legacy with dignity, steadfastness, and unwavering devotion. As a custodian of the NNC, she preserved its historical legacy and kept alive the enduring spirit of Naga nationalism.
While our political paths differed at times, we acknowledge with respect that the NNC, under the leadership of A. Z. Phizo, laid the historic foundation upon which all Naga political groups stand today. The Declaration of 14 August 1947, the 1951 Plebiscite, and the formation of the Federal Government of Nagaland remain defining milestones in the Naga political journey. Lt. Adinno upheld this legacy with resolute faith and conviction.
Her passing leaves behind a profound void in the Naga national movement. Yet, the ideals she guarded, the history she preserved, and the legacy she inherited will continue to endure in the collective memory of the Naga people.
On behalf of all ranks and files of the NSCN/GPRN, we extend our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the NNC, and the entire Naga community. In this hour of grief, may they find strength and solace in the enduring legacy of Lt. Adinno Phizo.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
