The Kuki CSO Working Committee-Ukhrul announces the lifting of its Counter Economic Blockade and ensuing Total Shutdown along National Highway 202 (Imphal -Ukhrul) with effect from 4:30 PM today, 11 August 2026.

The Counter Economic Blockade, enforced from 27 July 2026 and intensified into a Total Shutdown from 5 August 2026, was imposed in response to the selective economic blockade targeting Kuki-Zos by certain Tangkhul and Meitei groups along NH-202.

The statement issued by the Kuki CSO Working Committee Ukhrul stated that “the decision to lift the measures follows the meeting held today at 1:00 PM at Shangkai, where the Government of Manipur delegation, led by Hon’ble Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Hon’ble MLA and Spokesperson, Thokchom Radheshyam. The visiting team informed the WCKCSOs-Ukhrul that an agreement had been reached between the concerned Tangkhul and Meitei groups to end the selective economic blockade along NH-202 against the Kuki-Zos.

“Further, a handwritten agreement was executed between the WCKCSOs-Ukhrul and the Government delegates, whereby the latter undertook responsibility for ensuring the safety and security of NH-202 and preventing any blockade or disturbance by any group.

“In view of this development and the Government’s assurance of free and non-discriminatory movement of essential commodities, the WCKCSOs-Ukhrul hereby lifts the Counter Economic Blockade and Total Shutdown from 4:30 PM today.

“The WCKCSOs-Ukhrul appreciates the Government’s intervention and expects the agreement to be implemented in letter and spirit, ensuring that no community is subjected to selective economic restrictions.

“Normal movement may resume from 4:30 PM today” stated the statement issued by the Department of Information and Media, WCKCSOs-Ukhrul
