The House unanimously resolved to terminate the incumbent Naga Hoho Executive Council with effect from the conclusion of the 3rd Federal Assembly. Further, the House endorsed the incumbent Assembly Speaker, Ino Pauheu Newme, to oversee the affairs of the Naga Hoho as Caretaker for 3 months. And for facilitating the process of restructuring the Hoho and nomination of the new Executive Council, the House has constituted a Search Committee.
The 3rd Federal Assembly of the Naga Hoho was convened on July 31, 2026 at Sha Complex, Tahamzam (Senapati) Headquarters, Manipur.
The excerpt of the proceedings of the 3rd Federal Assembly is hereby made public to keep the Naga people informed and to move the Hoho forward with collective understanding and cooperation.
After the formation of the quorum, Speaker, Naga Hoho commenced the federal Assembly with a Welcome Address and led the House in observing two minutes of silence as a mark of respect and to condole the untimely demise of Late Vilanuo Angela Yhome, President of the Naga Mothers’ Association, and the tragic massacre of six Naga men including two pastors by Kuki militants at Leilon Vaiphei village. The House offered prayers for the eternal peace of the departed souls and for strength to the bereaved families.
During the business session, the House reviewed the functioning and working status of the incumbent Executive Council of the Hoho. After hearing the submissions from the Executive Council, the House held detailed deliberations and observed that the Council’s functioning had come to a standstill. Hence, in accordance with Article 8(1)(5) of the Yehzabo of the Naga Hoho, the House unanimously resolved to terminate the incumbent Naga Hoho Executive Council with effect from the conclusion of the 3rd Federal Assembly. Further, the House endorsed the incumbent Assembly Speaker, Ino Pauheu Newme, to oversee the affairs of the Naga Hoho as Caretaker for 3 months.
And for facilitating the process of restructuring the Hoho and nomination of the new Executive Council, the House unanimously nominated a Search Committee, consisting of the following members:
Ino Chuba Ozukum, Former President, Naga Hoho – Convener
Ino Ng. Lorho, President, UNC – Member
Ino Tonyho Sumi – Member
Ino Ningthoudai Gonmei, President, ZB – Member
Ino Wairok Hangsing, President, Maring Tribe Hoho (MUA) – Member
The Search Committee shall complete its exercise and present its recommendation for formal appointment and swearing-in to the office within 3 months, or until the completion of the installation process of the new Executive Council.
The House unitedly placed its hope upon this restructuring process to strengthen the Naga Hoho and to foster Naga unity, coordination, and effective leadership for the welfare of the Naga people.
Consequent upon the recall of the representative of the Lotha Public Organization holding the post of Assembly Secretary, and in view of his personal concurrence with the decision of the parent body, the said post has fallen vacant. For which, The House resolved to endorse the United Naga Council to nominate and fill up the vacant post at the earliest, to ensure the smooth functioning of the office.
