KSO: Administrative Neglect Pushing Kuki Students Into Crisis

The Kuki Students Organisation โ€“Ukhrul (KSO-U) strongly condemned the continued inaction of the Government of Manipur in addressing the severe documentation crisis affecting students and job aspirants from Kuki villages under Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.

The statement issued by KSO Ukhrul stated that “with the declaration of Class X and XII examination results and the ongoing recruitment processes, countless students and successful job applicants are being denied admissions, verification, and joining opportunities due to the absence of essential official documents.

“Amidst the ongoing conflict, Ukhrul and Kamjong district headquarters remain practically inaccessible for the Kukis, while the government has failed to operationalise any alternative administrative arrangement despite the MoU signed with The Kuki CSO Working Committee (WCKCSOs)โ€“Ukhrul on 19th March 2026.

“The non-deployment of SDO/BDO officials and police representatives from Kangpokpi district to the 16th Zalenbung Constituency has pushed the people into complete administrative isolation and uncertainty.

“Such prolonged neglect has only reinforced the urgent necessity for the merger of Kuki villages under Ukhrul and Kamjong districts with Kangpokpi district, as demanded by the WCKCSOs, to ensure administrative accessibility, security, and justice for the Kuki people.

“The Government must resolve the ongoing documentation crisis on or before 14th May 2026. Failing which, the Kuki Students Organisation โ€“ Ukhrul (KSO-U), in joint coordination with the Kuki Women Union โ€“Ukhrul (KWU-U), shall be compelled to launch intensified democratic agitation, including the imposition of a total economic blockade along National Highway-202.

“The Government alone shall be held responsible for any consequences arising out of its continued apathy and failure” stated the statement issued by the Department of Media KSO-Ukhrul District.
