Sources informed that the armed Kuki militants stopped the vehicles and pointed a loaded gun towards the vehicle where the Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul was travelling and said that they did not want any Deputy Commissioner there. They told him to go back. Eventually the convoy returned to Imphal.
Mongkot Chepu is just a stone throw away from Litan Police Station. Hundreds of security forces are also stationed around the area. However, the National Highway 202 (Imphal-Ukhrul) is no longer safe even for the head of the District Administration travelling with their security. The militants’ blatant disregard for anyone along the National Highway 202 appears to be no longer an allegation but a reality.
