The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim on 23 March 2026 appointed W. Zimik as the new Cabinet Secretary of NSCN. Phungcham Village, his native village, expressed its profound gratitude to the Yaruiwo and the Collective Leadership for the appointment.

The appointment order signed by Yaruiwo, Q. Tuccu stated, “Yaruiwo, Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim, in consultation with the Collective Leadership on 23rd March 2026 has appointed Mr. W. Zimik, Secretary as Cabinet Secretary to the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim with immediate effect.”

The Phungcham Village Authority in its press release stated that it was “delighted to learn that W. Zimik s/o Honlei Zimik of Phungcham Village has been appointed as Cabinet Secretary of NSCN/GPRN on 23 March 2026.”

“The village expresses immense gratitude to the Yaruiwo and the Collective Leadership. We reaffirm our continued support for the Naga cause. We wish W. Zimik the best in all his endeavours. May the good Lord be with him always” stated the press release signed by Tuireising Horam, the Headman of Phungcham Village.

W. Zimik is the son of Honlei Zimik, who retired as a Government Primary School Headmaster in the 1990s. W. Zimik completed his high school education from Holy Spirit High School, Longpi, Ukhrul, and graduated with Honours from St. Edmund’s College (1992). He eventually earned his MA (Sociology) from the North Eastern Hill University in the year 1994.

In a bureaucratic reshuffle, W. Zimik has replaced Th. Rainam of Phalee Village as the new Cabinet Secretary with George Golmei as the new Talk Secretary, replacing W. Zimik. Before W. Zimik joined the national movement, he had served as the President of the Raphei Katamnao Long (Northern Tangkhul Students’ Union) in 1996-1997. He joined the NSCN the following year in 1998.

W. Zimik also served as the Principal Secretary of the PM/ Ato Kilonser at the PMO for more than a decade. W. Zimik had his first major Executive assignment within the NSCN/GPRN hierarchy in the year 2009, when he was appointed as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), one of the youngest CAOs of the WTR in the history of GPRN /NSCN. He served for two separate tenures as the Chief Administrative Officer(CAO) of the Wung Tangkhul Region (2009 -2011 and 2017-2018). W. Zimik was one of the first few educated persons from Phungcham Village to enrol as a full- fledged member of the NSCN.
