Kamjong Student's Union Condemns Kuki Militants' Attack at Civilian Areas of Kamjong

The Kamjong Students’ Union expresses its strongest condemnation of the recent incident that occurred on 23rd March at approximately 8:30 PM, in which suspected armed individuals, identified as Kuki refugee militants, discharged automatic rifles in and around civilian areas of Kamjong. Such reckless and violent actions have caused widespread panic, confusion, and fear among the peaceful residents of our town.

Kamjong has long been known for its harmony and coexistence among communities. The use of firearms in a civilian setting is not only irresponsible but also a direct threat to public safety and peace. The Union views this act as unacceptable and deeply disturbing, particularly when innocent lives are placed at risk.

In light of this grave situation, we demand that the District Administration Kamjong, Government of Manipur and Chassad authorities immediately clarify the circumstances surrounding this incident and identify the individuals responsible. We further insist that the culprit(s) be produced before the appropriate authority within 24 hours from the issuance of this letter.

Failure to comply with this demand will compel the Kamjong Students’ Union to take strict measures, including imposition of a complete ban on all Kuki movements within the Kamjong headquarters area. Such actions, while undesirable, will be deemed necessary to ensure the safety and security of the public.

“We urge all concerned parties to act with responsibility and urgency to prevent further escalation and to restore peace and trust within the community” stated the statement issued by the Publicity Wing of Kamjong Students’ Union.
