This edition of Vogue’s showcase explores the intersection of fashion and architecture, highlighting a modern design language deeply rooted in India’s artisanal legacy.
The theme offers enthusiasts a thoughtful, imaginative, and proud glimpse into the visions of India’s leading designers. “At this prestigious platform, our brand EAST will present The Loin Loom Project, a work that is both deeply personal and culturally significant. For me, this participation is more than a milestone — it is an opportunity to represent a part of India that is too often overlooked: the Northeast. I hope this stage sparks deeper conversations about the creativity, artistry, and culture of the region” added Easternlight Zimik.
“As part of this showcase, I will be presenting a piece that brings forward the essence of my brand’s DNA. It draws inspiration from the Kashan — the traditional wraparound of Northeast India — alongside a contemporary redesign of the stole top. This creation is handcrafted entirely using the traditional backstrap technique, paying tribute to the mastery of loin-loom weavers. To me, these artisans are the true architects of fashion, though their contributions are too often absent from the mainstream discourse. Adding to this honour, our brand has also been nominated for Vogue India’s prestigious Craft Revival Award 2025, alongside three other remarkable finalists who are reshaping the landscape of Indian fashion through craft revival. The winners will be celebrated on 23rd September at the Marriott Hotel, Juhu, Mumbai” he further added.
