A tragic accident occurred at around 11:30am when a truck carrying sand could not climb a steep slope, losing control. Two people including the driver died on the spot, and there is a report of 9 casualties with 6 serious cases. The sand, being quarried from the Chalou river, was meant for Wahong Baptist Church building.
The two deceased have been identified as Stephen A Shatsang s/o late Mingkhie and Ekrorme A Shatsamg s/o Khathing A Shatsang. Both are from Wahong village.
A medical team who were conducting health checkups of students at Kalhang village rushed to the spot and gave first aids. The injured persons are being transported to the District Hospital at the time of filing this report.

Dr. Sunita informed Rural Post that, “4 of the injured persons have been shifted to Ukhrul District Hospital for treatment and there are still more on the way. ”
Wahong is about 135 kilometres from Ukhrul Headquarters and just 10 kilometres away from Indo-Myanmar Border Pillar No. 130.
